Modern Organization & Design is owned and operated by Taylor Smigiel. Taylor graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Art Studies along with a minor in business. With her passion for design and decor, as well as natural instincts for organization and structure, she decided to form MOD to assist those who find themselves overrun by clutter. From a young age she assisted her mother with organizational projects ranging from cleaning out the garage to de-cluttering, purging and redecorating grandma’s entire house. She was also continually redesigning her own bedroom, rearranging furniture, organizing her closet and watching HGTV for the latest trends. This deep rooted passion for design and organization is what drives her to provide beautiful and functional spaces for each of her clients.
MOD aims to provide organizational systems while increasing aesthetic appeals and designing spaces that work best for her clients. Her belief is that people are more prone to keep their space neat if they have visually pleasing systems making it easier to do so. Even though plastic and wire organizers are useful, they still become easily cluttered when there is no motivation to keep it looking neat and presentable. While her technical skills in organizing is what will provide solutions for clutter, she hopes to leave clients feeling thrilled and raving about the changes we made together.

Questions for your organizer, Taylor:
What do you love about your job?
Professional organizing allows such an array of projects. One day, I can be organizing a walk-in closet, and the next, I am decluttering and creating storage solutions for a garage. I am able to constantly utilize my creativity and experience in assisting my clients. This makes my days very exciting. I love being able to help transform my client’s home from something that gives them a headache to something that brings them joy. Interior design is also a very big passion of mine; it is also very fun for me to be able to dabble in many different styles and create functional yet pretty rooms.
What or who inspired you to start your own business?
After graduating from college, I began to work as an office manager for a local business, which was completely unrelated to organizing. After a year, I came to realize that I was all but running the entire company, and doing so for an industry that I felt no passion for. This is when I decided to dive in and create MOD. Doing so not only allowed me to form a career that I was naturally talented at but also expand on my enthusiasm for design and decor. I love what I do, and I hope this passion is experienced by all of my clients.
What do you enjoy about the work you do?
I love being able to help my clients transform their spaces, making them both more functional and enjoyable.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Taylor likes to begin with an in person consultation to be able to meet her clients, discuss the scope of work they are wanting to accomplish, and all of the possible options for tackling the project. After that they will decide on a start date and begin the process of getting organized!
